Clinical audit is a quality improvement process that seeks to improve patient care

and outcomes through systematic review of care against explicit criteria…

Where indicated, changes are implemented…and further

monitoring is used to confirm improvement in healthcare delivery.

To initiate a medical audit, begin by selecting a specific topic

or area of practice to investigate, such as patient safety,

medication adherence,

commencing new medicine or surgical technique or quality of care.

Then , define clear objectives , collect the data and select relevant criteria or standards against which to measure performance. Re audit.

It is systemic analysis and improvement of the quality care and patient safety against an explicit criteria .

Necessary changes are made to improve the quality care and further monitoring to confirm improvements in the quality care.
